Fishl

Fishl
Fishl m
Jewish (Yiddish): diminutive form of the vocabulary word fish fish (modern German Fisch). It seems to have been adopted as a given name because of the biblical prophecy that the descendants of Ephraim and Manasseh would multiply as the fish in the sea (Genesis 48: 16).
Variant: Fishke.
